ISABEL MESHAM
b.1896
Little is known of Isabel Mesham though she was born in Gorey, Co. Wexford in 1896. She exhibited at the Royal Academy in London, the Paris Salon, and the Lisbon Salon.

There is a rural aspect to her work from the pastoral to the animal; and overtones of surrealism touch to some of her pieces. She treats her subject matter with a simple though firm line; on the whole there is a feeling of a smile about these images though the Coast with Gulls is sinister and bleak. She was in her 60’s, and living at Aspley Guise, Bletchley, Bucks. when she showed works on paper at the Royal Academy, London.
