Born
in 1973, Gwen studied Law and History at University College Galway.
Following several years crewing on the international yacht racing
circuit she returned to Ireland to study photography at Griffith
College, Dublin. She served her artistic apprenticeship with the
sculptor, Rupert Till. During that period she assisted in the
creation of life-sized wire figures of horses, stags, and other
animals. Her own sculptural work has been selected for an exhibition
at Eigse Carlow Arts Festival and has formed part of a group exhibition
at Kilkenny Arts Festival in 2004. Gwen has had several exhibitions
of her photographic work, including a solo (Emigrants, 2003) at
The Excel Gallery, Tipperary. This show featured black and white
documentary photographs taken in Poland. Her work is found in
the collections of The Office of Public Works, The Irish National
Stud, and in private collections in Ireland, USA and England.
